Welcome message
Dear Colleagues,
We are delighted to invite you all interested in the field of poverty related with food/nutrition, health and human rights to attend the 2nd International Conference on Poverty, Food and Health in Welfare to be held in Lisbon, in November 29-30, 2007.
This exciting conference is under the patronage of the Ministry of Health in the context of the Portuguese EU Council Presidency and make the link across the European Presidencies programmes of the Troika countries Germany – Portugal – Slovenia, on some health and nutrition issues. However, it’s the Portuguese Presidency privilege and a unique opportunity over these 18 months, to discuss poverty, food and health by integrating the human rights approach.
Our aim is to bring together some of the leading experts to generate authoritative and meaningful debate that contributes to raise new ideas for policy action to tackle poverty, in its different dimensions. The stimulating scientific programme will bring up the state of the art of theses issues, will promote the discussion and will spread the outcomes of the conference, nationally and internationally. It will benefit from interdisciplinary plenary sessions, intended to provide the most current research findings, while sharing in a diversity of perspectives.
The scientific programme is obviously one of the reasons for attending the Conference. However Lisbon is also a city of great cultural and architectural interest.
The Organising Committee will do its utmost to ensure that you enjoy a happy and productive conference and looks forward to your active participation. We are convinced that your stay in Lisbon will be academically, educationally and socially rewarding.
We look forward to welcoming you in Lisbon
